Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
Splitt E (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Splitt E mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”) for on-demand rides and local parcel delivery. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, whom we share it with, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
The Service is provided by Splitt E. For privacy-related requests, contact us using the details in Section 12 below.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following categories:
- Account and identity: mobile phone number, name, profile photo (if you add one), and verification codes used to sign in.
- Location: precise and approximate GPS location while you use the app—including when it runs in the background during an active trip—so we can match you with drivers, show your trip on the map, calculate fares, and improve safety.
- Trip and delivery data: pickup and drop-off addresses, route, fare estimates, ride history, OTPs, ratings, feedback, scheduled ride details, and parcel information you provide.
- Payment: payment method type and transaction status. Card or wallet details are processed by our payment partners; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Communications: in-app chat messages with drivers or support, push notification tokens, and metadata about voice calls placed through the app (e.g. call timing—not call recordings unless clearly disclosed at the time of use).
- Device and technical: device model, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs, and analytics needed to secure and improve the Service.
- Support and safety: information you provide when contacting support, reporting issues, or in connection with fraud prevention and incident investigation.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Register and authenticate your account;
- Provide, operate, and complete ride and delivery bookings;
- Share necessary trip details with assigned drivers (e.g. name, pickup location, contact for the trip);
- Process payments, refunds, and promotions (including coupons);
- Send trip updates, safety alerts, and service notifications (including push notifications);
- Enable real-time tracking, navigation, and customer support;
- Maintain security, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms;
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests;
- Improve the Service through aggregated or de-identified analytics where possible.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
Depending on your region, we rely on one or more of: performance of a contract (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security, product improvement), consent (e.g. optional marketing or certain permissions), and legal obligation.
5. How we share information
We may share information with:
- Drivers and delivery partners — information required to fulfil your booking;
- Service providers — cloud hosting, maps, messaging, analytics, payment processing, and customer-support tools bound by confidentiality obligations;
- Technology partners — including Google (Firebase, Maps), and voice/communication providers used for in-app calling;
- Authorities — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property;
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their independent marketing.
6. Location and background processing
Location access is essential for booking and active trips. You can control permissions in your device settings; disabling location may prevent you from using core features. Background location may be used during an ongoing trip so your driver and our systems can provide accurate tracking and safety features.
7. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, and regulatory requirements (including retention of trip records where required). We may retain anonymised or aggregated data longer.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong device lock and protect your account credentials.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on applicable law (including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, where applicable), you may have the right to:
- Access and receive a copy of your personal information;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to legal exceptions;
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. We may verify your identity before responding.
10. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11. International transfers
Your information may be processed in India and in other countries where our service providers operate. We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards when data is transferred across borders.
12. Third-party links and services
The app may link to third-party sites or services (e.g. maps, payment gateways). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review them.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be notified in the app or by other reasonable means. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
